The Liberty-Tuff™ EZ-FireLap™ Firearm Barrel Lapping Kit is a system that enables shooters to lap their firearm's barrel easily and economically. Unlike other systems that require special bullets or reloading, this color-coded system can be used with the shooter's own ammunition and a few items they likely already own. By using our Color-Coded Lapping Compounds and their own ammunition, shooters can achieve the following benefits:
- Increased accuracy
- Improved standard deviation in velocity
- Clearing and prevention of fouling
- Revitalization of older barrels
The EZ-FireLap™ Firearm Barrel Lapping Kit is easy to use and does not require any special skills or knowledge. It is also economical, allowing shooters to use their existing factory ammo and treat 1-2 barrels depending on bore size and desired finish.

Conventional wisdom suggests that lapping or polishing the bore of a barrel will increase the velocity of a bullet. However, this is not always the case. The assumption is that a rough barrel slows down the bullet due to friction, but this is not necessarily true. When you take into account the pressure built up by the burning gases behind a bullet as it travels down the bore, it can increase the velocity in an unpredictable way, which can cause the Standard Deviation (SD) in velocity to widen. This can lead to issues with accuracy, much like uncorking a bottle of champagne. The aim of lapping or polishing your bore is to decrease the SD, which in turn provides more consistent accuracy, regardless of whether the velocity increases or decreases.
